Baby in Mother's Arms

Ana is a certified doula by the UK company Nurturing Birth

A doula is a non-medical birth companion who assists a woman before, during, and after childbirth.

As a certified doula Ana provides emotional and physical support to both the mother and birth partner. Similarly, Ana supports couples with evidence based information to make informed decisions together with the medical team. A doula doesn’t replace the dad, they work together as a team.

The benefits of having a doula present during labour are:

  • More comfortable and enjoyable pregnancy journey.

  • Women report having a more positive childbirth experience.

  • Having a doula as a member of the birth team decreases the length of labor and reduces medical procedures.

  • Doulas often use the power of touch and massage to reduce stress and anxiety during labor. Massage helps stimulate the production of natural oxytocin and endorphins, which are the birthing hormones that we need for birth to progress and for mom to have a more comfortable experience.

  • More comfortable and positive postpartum period for mom, baby and dad.

  • Smoother and more successful breastfeeding.
